Lionel Messi’s Football Career At Barcelona: The Best In Modern Football History

Argentine legend Lionel Messi will forever remain one of the top players to ever play for Barcelona F.C. Not only that, but he is also one of the best football players of his generation — an exceptional player, a terrific goal scorer, and a great dribbler with incredible football skills.

The 34-year-old was signed by Barcelona at age 13 but made his first appearance for the club at age 16. Messi ended his debut with a very brilliant performance, making history as the first youngest Barcelona player to ever score in his debut. That was no surprise to many people and fellow players like Eto’o and Vieira, who have always seen Messi as an exceptional player.

Messi’s story right from his childhood days is a different one. Although most of it could be termed as rumors, they are all saying one thing – a player with unmatchable football skills. There is a story of how Messi was substituted just a few minutes before the end of a match and scored the winner to prove his coach wrong for refusing to start him for the match.

No doubt, Lionel Messi was able to prove his worth while playing for Barcelona. Although Barcelona had to announce his departure from the club, the club also benefited greatly from this partnership. Messi spent a total of 17 seasons with the club, scoring a total of 474 goals and creating 193 assists in 519 matches. In his 17 seasons at the club, the club won the Spanish football league eight times between 2009 and 2019 and also won the UEFA Champions League in  2009, 2011, and 2015.

To be honest, these achievements are enough to repay whatever support the club has given the Argentine legend. And this also tells the story of a football player with no match. A lot of attempts have been made to rate Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo more than Messi, but the former doesn’t come close.
