Nani Early Life

Born on November 17, 1986, in Amadora, Portugal, the Portuguese legend who currently plays as a winger and captain for Orlando City, SC, didn’t get the best of life while growing up.

After his birth, Nani was abandoned by his father, and after some years, his mother had to leave him in search of greener pastures. He spent most of his childhood days with his aunt Antónia and in the company of his siblings.

The 34-year-old got his nickname from one of his sisters, and his older brother discovered his football talent.

Football Career

Nani started his football career at his first club, Sporting CP, through the pre-season training offer he got from the club. Satisfied with his dribbling abilities, incredible football skills, and other great attributes, Nani got an official contract from his club and made his first appearance in 2005/2006.

While playing for Sporting Lisbon, his remarkable achievements attracted the premier league side Manchester United, and he was signed for €25 million.

As a central midfielder, Nani also fits in as a winger and striker, the qualities which make his playing style similar to that of Ronaldo.

Although he was instrumental in a lot of successes recorded during his time at the club, he couldn’t achieve more because Cristiano Ronaldo was considered a better option.
