Here is a list of some of Argentina’s greatest defenders of all time.

Juan Pablo Sorin

The former Argentine footballer was one of the best defenders during his time as a left-back for club and country.  His crossing and passing abilities made him a versatile player and could play anywhere on the left-wing.

Although he was able to represent his country at various International competitions, he was a key player for Argentina at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

The 48-year-old who played as a full-back or defensive midfielder for both club and country deserves to be on this list after making a total of 143 appearances for his country at various international competitions.

The former Inter Milan star is also in the category of foreign players with the most appearances in Serie A.

Oscar Ruggeri

Former Argentine professional footballer Oscar Ruggeri, popularly known as El Cabezon, was known for his strength, aerial ability, superb tackling, and marking skills.  

The River Plate star recorded a lot of success while at the club and was also part of the national team that won the 1986 FIFA World Cup for his country.

Daniel Passarella

Not only is Former Argentine footballer Daniel Passarella one of the greatest Argentina’s defenders of all time, but also regarded by many as the greatest defender ever in South American football history.  

He was a member and captain of the Argentina national team that won the 1978 FIFA World Cup.
